The program includes approximately 40% theoretical concepts and 60% hands-on practical training.

Module 1: Bioinformatics Databases and Tools

This module introduces the foundation of Bioinformatics, including biological databases, sequence databases, protein and genome databases, domain and functional family databases, and tools for biological data analysis. Participants will learn practical applications of BLAST, FASTA, ClustalW, PubChem, DrugBank, and other important resources used in biological research.

Module 2: Structural Bioinformatics

This module focuses on protein structure analysis and computational structural biology. Topics include protein structure levels, Protein Data Bank (PDB), structure retrieval, homology modelling, protein modelling using MODELLER, structure validation methods such as Ramachandran Plot and PROCHECK, molecular visualization using PyMOL/Chimera, and introduction to molecular docking approaches.

Module 3: Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolutionary Analysis

This module covers molecular evolution concepts, sequence alignment strategies, phylogenetic tree construction methods, evolutionary models, bootstrap analysis, molecular clock calibration, speciation tree analysis, and an introduction to Bayesian phylogenetic approaches.

Elective Module 1: Programming in R and Machine Learning Using Biological Data

This module introduces R programming for biological data analysis along with statistical concepts and machine learning approaches. Topics include R programming basics, data structures, statistical analysis, supervised learning methods such as Logistic Regression, Decision Tree, Random Forest, and unsupervised learning methods including K-means and hierarchical clustering. Biological case studies using real and simulated datasets will be discussed.

Elective Module 2: NGS, Transcriptomics and High-Throughput Data Analysis

This module provides an overview of next-generation sequencing technologies and transcriptomics workflows. Participants will learn RNA-Seq analysis workflow, quality control using FastQC, read preprocessing, alignment and quantification, differential gene expression analysis, functional enrichment analysis using GO and KEGG, and biological interpretation of results.
